helping conserve our written history.
ACL provides services for preservation, restoration, and technical study
of all kinds of historical material ranging from imprints on paper,
manuscripts, letters, books, drawings to maps, photographs and artwork.
Step 1
Consultation and an on-site visit
We offer on-site visits as well as consultations in our lab, to assess the condition of the archives. Our highly skilled staff offers consultation for all kinds of writings and drawings on paper. The consultation services include a detailed assessment of damages sustained by archival material.
Step 2
Conservation Treatment Plans
Condition reports and proposals are then prepared to suggest the treatments to help prevent archives from further decay and damage. Conservation treatment plans are designed and sent for approval. Post-approval, the client is required to pay 50% in deposit for the treatment to start.
Step 3
Treatment
The archives are treated in a lab controlled environment to prevent further losses of historic writing and images on paper. A variety of stabilization and de-acidification treatments are conducted to repair the damages and prevent further loss.The restoration/conservation treatments reduce stains in paper, fill losses, remove old tapes and adhesives, reduce distortions and mitigate damage from molds and insect activity and all other damages, to increase the longevity of paper and artwork.Conservation treatments are fully digitized/documented with written reports and high resolution digital photographs after undergoing microscopic study as well as spot tests and pH measures, before treatments can be carried out. All documentation and treatment studies are saved for future record. We strictly follow the code of ethics while conserving/restoring and preserving tangible written heritage.
Step 4
Delivery
The archives are secured in customized storage boxes and arrangements are made for delivery and/or pickup. Suggestions are also given by our staff on proper handling/storage to prevent further damage.
